Marc talked about the process of learning a foreign language and the different levels of fluency. He will show that there is a higher realm of language proficiency and explain what it takes to reach this “native” point where the benefits far surpass mere communication skills. Marc’s passion is the study of languages, their manifestation in local dialects, as well as their expression in poetry and folkloric song. He has acquired a near-native proficiency in six languages and their sub-forms and has given various musical performances. Elizabeth Stegemöller presents at the TEDx IowaStateUniversity event on music therapy and its impact on the brain. She is a music therapist and utilizes music therapy to treat people with Parkinsons disease.

Ms. Elizabeth Stegemöller is an assistant professor at Iowa State University in the Department of Kinesiology and is known nationally as known nationally as the neuroscience expert in music therapy. Scott Geller is Alumni Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech and Director of the Center for Applied Behavior Systems in the Department of Psychology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the World Academy of Productivity and Quality.
