As the head of language research, training and testing for EF Education First — the worlds largest language school — Dr. Christopher McCormick oversees the instructional design and delivery of EFs language programs. His work focuses on online language learning, educational mobile applications, and digital media for accelerated language learning. His language abilities span English, Spanish and Russian, amongst others. Dr. McCormick holds a B.A. with honors in French and Russian from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Ahmed Amin is an actor and writer graduated from Faculty of Arts in 2002. Amin worked as a theatre actor, then the chief editor of Bassem children magazine. He wrote many TV serieses including «Basant w Dyasty» and «Captain Azuz». Amin is currently popular for his short youtube videos in the 30 seconds series like «How to write slang poetry in 30 seconds». He also starred and produced his short movie «Present with the Accused»

LoVina Louie explains the historical root causes for the challenges facing many Native Americans. Her abundant insight and passionate stories lead into a heart wrenching yet hopeful song that will captivate you as you listen to this talk. LoVina is an enrolled member of the schitsuumsh (Coeur d’Alene) Tribe and a descendant of the nselxcin (Okanogan/Colville) and Nimipu (Nez Perce) tribes. She is a descendant of Chief Morris Antelope of the schitsuumsh and Chief Manuel Louie of the Inkaneep Band in Oliver, BC, Canada.

LoVina is director of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s Marimn Health Wellness Center as well as the Coordinator for Qwest Life. She earned her Bachelors Degree from University of Idaho in Organizational Sciences with an emphasis in Community and Tribal Wellness.

LoVina is the visionary behind the revolutionary exercise series “Powwow Sweat” and co-directed the American Indian Film Festival and Red Nation Film Festival award winning music video “We Shall Remain.”

As a former Miss Indian World, she has traveled to hundreds of tribal communities. LoVina is a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and an amazing human being. Once the only female member of the famous Zephyr Skateboard team from documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys: Peggy’s love of the outdoors inspires her to travel worldwide in search of good surf. In 2004, she founded the Origami Whales Project to raise awareness about commercial whaling. She has also developed the Whales and Dolphins Ambassador Program and led campaigns such as ‘Let’s Face It’, which petitions to save New Zealand’s critically endangered Maui’s dolphins and Hector’s dolphins.

The increase in political polarization over the last several years threatens democracy. Some people have given up on trying to create bridges with people who do not think like them or see the world the same way. Speaker David Plazas talks about why embracing good citizenship and connecting with neighbors are essential to American society and offers some ideas for how to create successful conversations in a messy time. David Plazas is the Opinion and Engagement Director for the USA TODAY Network Tennessee and The Tennessean. He has worked as a journalist for two decades and most of his career has focused on opinion journalism, community conversations, and building solutions to local and state challenges. He leads The Tennesseans Civility Tennessee campaign, which started in 2018 to model, promote, and encourage better civil discourse. In 2020, he started the Tennessee Voices podcast, a show focused on conversations with diverse leaders, thinkers and innovators on what they are doing and how they are managing during the COVID-19 pandemic. He holds a B.A. in political science and Spanish, and a masters in journalism, both from Northwestern University, and earned an M.B.A. at Florida Gulf Coast University.
